Thanks for your comment Andy… It is quite amazing to see a road undulating off into the far horizon, so straight that even the fluid mirage shows a break in the foliage where the road continues straight thereafter. The challenge is not so much that the road is straight, but that there are so few other reference points – the foliage remains much the same for a couple of days. So we focused on our conversation, and on finding tiny variations to generate interest, such as observing the birds of prey hovering over a potential snack. The variety is there to see, but the challenge is to observe more closely because superficially, there seems to be an unchanging landscape.
Unbelievable : very difficult to visualise a road with no bends for 90 miles. Did it seem an extraordinarily long way or did you surprise yourselves?!

The road does seem long, but the surprise were the aircraft landing strips incorporated into the road!
